This is the kitchen and lodge of Flag Mountain. With the cool mornings we had a fire in the fireplace to try to warm up the kitchen. Eventually it was warmer outside than inside.
Morning sun shining through the trees. Taken from the deck of the lodge.
Hailey decided that this cow was not in the right place. She was too chicken to chase it away. She just barked her vicious bark at it and danced around.
Anyone remember the abandoned gold mines close to the camp? Kimber and Cara had a long Sabbath afternoon hike down to the mine. Here are a few pictures of the sites.
Cara crossing a stream to get to the gold mine.
At times there were climbs and descents.
Sunday on our way home we took a detour down to Custer National Park. It was their annual buffalo stampede. It was to take place on Monday morning. Lots of people in the park and lots of buffalo were congregating. When it was time to bring the cows home in the fall, they always seemed to know it was time. I wondered, do the buffalo know when their time is?
